What is a PSA-graded card?

PSA stands for Professional Sports Authenticator. It is one of the major companies that authenticates and grades collectible trading cards.

When you submit a card, PSA does three things. It confirms the card is genuine. It gives it a condition grade, usually from 1 to 10. Then it seals it in a protective plastic holder, called a slab, with a label showing the grade and a certification number.

A PSA 10 is "Gem Mint 10," the highest standard grade. A PSA 10 Pokémon card is one that met that standard at grading time.

What we buy, sell and lend on

We work with graded cards from both major collecting categories:

  • Pokémon cards: vintage and modern, including 1st Edition and other sought-after sets
  • Sports cards: baseball, basketball, football, and other sports
  • Other graded collectibles: ask us if you have something unusual

We buy PSA slabs outright, sell graded cards from our inventory, and make pawn loans on them. You choose which one fits.

How PSA grades affect value

The same card can be worth very different amounts depending on the grade. A higher grade is usually worth more, and the gap between a 9 and a 10 can be large on popular cards.

Here is the PSA scale in short:

GradeName
PSA 10Gem Mint
PSA 9Mint
PSA 8Near Mint-Mint
PSA 7Near Mint
PSA 6Excellent-Mint
PSA 5Excellent
PSA 4Very Good-Excellent
PSA 3Very Good
PSA 2Good
PSA 1Poor

Grade is only one part of the picture. We also look at:

The card itself

The player or character, the set, the year and the edition

Population

How many copies PSA has graded at that grade. Fewer copies can mean more value.

Recent sales

What similar cards in the same grade have actually sold for

Demand

Collector interest changes with the market, new releases and player performance

Borrowing against PSA cards

If you'd rather keep your cards, a pawn loan lets you borrow against them. The card stays yours. When you repay the loan under the agreed terms, you get it back.

This works well for collectors who need cash for a while but don't want to sell into a low market. Loan amount and terms depend on the card and are explained at the counter.

Buying graded cards

We also sell graded cards. Browse what's in stock on our Sports Cards and Pokémon Cards pages, or ask us if you're looking for something specific.

Ungraded cards and other graders

Not everything is PSA. We also look at raw (ungraded) cards, and cards graded by other companies. If you're not sure whether a raw card is worth grading, we can give you an honest opinion.

Tips for cards you plan to sell or borrow against

  • Leave cards in their slab. Don't open it. An opened slab loses its grade.
  • Handle by the edges. Fingerprints and scratches on the case can matter.
  • Keep any paperwork, including PSA submission receipts.
  • Take a photo of the label. It makes it easy to look up the cert number.
