How Designer Goods Are Valued
Authentication first. Every piece is authenticated against brand-specific markers — stitching patterns, hardware stamps, date codes, leather characteristics, serial numbers. Counterfeits are not accepted.
Brand, model, and configuration. A Birkin 25 in Noir Togo with gold hardware has a different market value than a Birkin 35 in Etoupe Clemence with palladium. Every variable matters.
Condition. Corner wear, scratches, hardware tarnishing, and structural sagging reduce value. Excellent condition commands the highest offers.
Completeness. Original box, dust bag, lock/keys (for Hermès), receipt, and brand packaging contribute meaningfully to secondary market value.
